The Phantom of the Opera – book review

20th May 2020

It is time to catch up on the classics. I have to say that I had my eyes on “The Phantom of the Opera”. There are so many stories and movies and songs, where The Phantom is mentioned, that I just needed to know what was all the fuss about.

Well, now I know. The book is genius. Gaston Lerous is a genius. I have to say that by the end of the book I felt like everything written inside is real narrative. All the characters are so vivid, so alive. One can find everything in this book: action, mystery, love, stupidity, intrigues, money… you name it and it is there.

“The Phantom of the Opera” by Gaston Leroux is a book written in 1909. Can you believe that?1909! That book is way too good to be that old. I have to confess that this is one of the few classics that I have read and really enjoyed. It is definitely worth reading.

The rating I am giving the novel is:
Idea: 5 out of 5
Story-line: 5 out of 5
Editing: 5 out of 5
Twists: 5 out of 5
Total = 5. I don’t know if I am going to read more of the same writer. What I do know is that “The Phantom of the Opera” gave me hope in my quest to read most of the Classics.
